From late May to mid July the sun never sets. Golden light fills both days and nights, making every hour an open invitation. This is the time for evening hikes with views at midnight, picnics on the beach in soft glow and calm harbor walks when the world never turns dark. Summer in Lyngvær offers the midnight sun, long days, mild weather and ideal conditions for hiking, kayaking and golf at Lofoten Links. Autumn brings calm days, rich colours and clear nights for northern lights. Winter has dramatic Arctic light, snowy peaks and cosy evenings inside the lodge. Spring is bright and refreshing, with longer days and crisp weather.

Yes! Lyngvær is located in one of the best areas in Lofoten for northern lights. The lodges face open sky and have minimal light pollution, so you can often watch the aurora directly from the terrace, the jacuzzi or even the living-room windows. Peak season is from September to April, but clear, cold nights at any time in winter can bring strong shows.

In Lofoten, the sun returns to the horizon in early January after the polar night. In Lyngvær, the first daylight gradually appears as soft pastel tones before the sun rises fully again. By late January and February the days grow quickly, with longer sunlit hours each week.

The dark season in Lofoten, often called the polar night, is at its deepest from mid-December to early January. In this period the sun does not rise above the horizon in Lyngvær, and the landscape is lit by soft blue and pink tones.

November and February are not fully dark, but they still feel like part of the winter light season. Days are short, the sun sits low, and the light changes quickly. Clear nights in all these months offer excellent conditions for northern lights.
