Hauklandstranda (beach)

Haukland Beach is a classic Lofoten destination, known for its soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water framed by steep mountains. Even on cloudy days, the colors here are striking. The beach is spacious, clean, and ideal for long shoreline walks, photography, swimming (for the brave), or simply enjoying the calm light and open landscape. In summer, the evening sun sets directly over the ocean, making Haukland one of the most beautiful sunset spots in Lofoten. Visitors often combine it with nearby Vik Beach or the hikes to Mannen and Holandsmelen.

  • Best for: Walks, photos, picnics, sunset visits

    Good to know

Warm layers (even in summer), picnic blanket, camera, beach shoes.

Stay for sunset — the colors over the bay can be extraordinary on clear evenings.

Water is very cold year-round. Waves and wind can change quickly — stay aware of conditions and avoid slippery rocks near the shoreline.
